Black Sabbath Tour August 1969 - August 1970
11-11-1969 John Peel's Top Gear, Maida Vale Studios, London, England PRO
Behind The Wall Of Sleep, N.I.B., Black Sabbath, Devil's Island
Info for this comes from Ken Garner’s book In Session Tonight. It details all of the known Radio 1 radio sessions. Recorded with producer John Walters at BBC’s Maida Vale 5 days before the recording of their debut album. The first three songs were broadcast on 11-29 while the 4th track aired on a 3-2-1970 rebroadcast of this program. D.I. is just a rough version of The Wizard.
11-16-1969 Rugman's Youth Club, Whitesands Dumfries, Scotland
Set 1 Black Sabbath (only the last 2 minutes), Let Me Love You Baby, Behind The Wall Of Sleep,
,Blue Blooded Man, Ozzy talks to the crowd, Set 2 Song For Jim (instrumental with Tony on flute!), Bill Ward's Drum Solo, A Song For Jim [reprise], The Warning (small cut during reel switch, but resumes), Wicked World, Behind The Wall Of Sleep (Jazz Improvisation section at end, Early One Morning, N.I.B. (with alternate lyrics), Blue Blooded Man.
Recorded in mono with a Grundig Reel to Reel recorder by Alex Wilson. Who was there to record the opening act (Amplified Heat). Sabbath performed 2 sets which Wilson caught the last of the first. This tape went unknown until 2005 when Wilson let this tape come out. Very few copies were made when a deal was made to sell this to the Osbourne camp. Only Early One Morning made it to us fans.
3-4-1970 Konzerthaus, Koln, Germany AUD or SBD
Behind, The Wall Of Sleep, Jam, War Pigs
I first got this on a cd titled Masters Of Germany. Which I still have including the amatuer looking booklet. Then I got a copy with 50% better quality and clearity. At the same time I started looking around and collecting various articles and news reports and found that said Jim Simpson had Sabbath recorded a couple times for radio broadcast and promotions. Including this very concert. So the possability is that this is from an unreleased soundboard. Given the clearity and even mix of this recording. But who knows!
6-26-1970 Audimax der Freien Universität, West Berlin, Germany AUD/PRO
Paranoid (alternate lyrics), Iron Man (alternate lyrics), Black Sabbath (alternate lyrics & extra verse), War Pigs (
alternate lyrics), Hand Of Doom (alternate lyrics), Rat Salad, N.I.B.
I read in the book How Black Was Our Sabbath book that cameras were there to film this show put on by US Armed Forces Radio. Then the crowd stormed the place after they were unable to get tickets. Henceforth the cameras were smashed. Killing the hope that a film of the show exist and perhaps in the hands of the band. But due to the clearity of the recording it was fans listing this as a unreleased professional recording from the soundboard. I'll be doing more research on this for future updates.

September 1970 - June 1971 Paranoid Tour

Paranoid, N.I.B., War Pigs, Iron Man, Behind The Wall Of Sleep, Jam, Hand Of Doom, Rat Salad, Fairies Wear
Boots, Wicked World, Guitar Solo, Orchid, Wicked World (reprise)
Solid A grade recording just a step away from being a soundboard. The band played two sets this night. And over several nights at the Fillmore. Now this has cuts between the songs so it's hard to tell if this is one of those sets or a mix of the two. Tape was remastered and speed corrected in 2002
11-27-1970 Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA AUD
Set 1 Paranoid, NIB, War Pigs, Black Sabbath, Ironman, Intermission, Behind The Wall Of Sleep, Jam, Hand Of Doom, Rat Salad, Fairies Wear Boots, Wicked World, Jams, Wicked World (reprise)
Excellent audience recording often mislabled as a soundboard. This is that remarkably clear. But in spots you can hear people in the crowd talk and chatter. Watchout for copies of this that plays too fast. Back in 2002 or 2003 I finally got a speed corected version which also sounded even clearer.
1-?-1971 Paranoid Radio Promo FM
1-14-1971 City Hall, Sheffield, England AUD
War Pigs, Into The Void, Iron Man, Black Sabbath, After Forever, Wicked World, Fairies Wear Boots, Paranoid.
Solid B grade sounding audience recording. Which contains the earlist known exsamples of Into The Void and After Forever. The original cd copies of this contained the snippet of When I Came Down! Sheffield ’71 released by Rock Steady Records in 2004. Copy directly from the original master cassette and remastered and equalized for optimum sound.
2-23-1971 The Forum, Inglewood, CA AUD
Paranoid, N.I.B., War Pigs, Black Sabbath, Iron Man, Wicked World, Guitar Solo, Wicked World (Reprise), Fairies
Wear Boots, Banter (Tape Ends).
I'll give this one a B+ grade quality. The recording begins with the band tunning up then goes into the setlist. For the encore they begin to play a bit of a jam leading to Paranoid but the tape ends before they get to Paranoid. First copies were too fast and muffled. Later on re-mastered copies were not only speed corrected but the sound was equalized and took away alot of the distortion. The cd artwork contributes the work done by Guillaume Roos.
July 1971 - April 1972 Master Of Reality Tour
7-18-1971 Borough Of York Stadium, Toronto, Canada AUD
Guitar Intro, NIB, War Pigs, Sweet Leaf, Black Sabbath, Iron Man, Embryo, Children Of The Grave, Wicked World, Iommi's Guitar Solo & Jam, Wicked World (reprise), Paranoid, Fairies Wear Boots.
One of my favorite Sabbath performances outright!!! Audience recording from the ‘Beggars Banquet Dance
Festival’, with Yes, and Three Dog Night. Recordings exsist for all three bands. Not only is this the earliest known tape from the MOR tour, it also is the first known live recordings of Sweet Leaf, Embryo, and Children Of The Grave. Ozzy and Iommi you can hear almost in soundboard quality. Bill and Geezer are pretty good in the mix but I'd say only about 80% compared to the other two. One of Ozzy's best nights concerning crowd interaction and vocal performance. The band plays these as close to the album sounding than they ever have. Check out during the WW jam that they seem to play a early version of what Cornucopia would be. I can't say enough to promote how great this recording is.
1971 US radio spot for Master Of Reality

Guitar Intro, NIB, War Pigs, Sweet Leaf, Black Sabbath, Iron Man, Embryo, Children Of The Grave, Wicked World, Iommi's Guitar Solo & Jam, Wicked World (reprise), Paranoid, Fairies Wear Boots.
Here is a pretty good quality show. Nothing real fancy but worth having.
10-1-1971 Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco, CA AUD
NIB, War Pigs, Sweet Leaf, Ironman, Wicked World, Jams, Wicked World (reprise), Embryo, Children Of The Grave, Paranoid (incomplete) Faires Wear Boots.
Released for the first time in May 2004 by a Japanese label. CD Booklet contains a photo of a master reel to reel
tape. leaving assumtion that this is a digital copy of that very reel. Also mentioned is that this was recorded by the Japanese press visiting Sabbath in 1971. The time between songs is missing as is a bit of Paranoid. It appears the master tape had some small drop downs and sound softing. Needless to say the copies also have these moments. But these things are not worth any real complaints.
1-24-1972 Town Hall, Birmingham, England AUD
After Forever, Tomorrow's Dreams, War Pigs, Sweet Leaf, Iron Man
C+ sounding audience tape. Sorta muffled and flat sounding. Some good audience responses stands out to my ears. Real reasons for getting this is the rarely played After Forever and the earlist known performances of Tomorrow's Dreams.
1-29-1972 Dansk Beat, Copenhagen, Denmark FM
Bill Ward Interview.
A book was released listing all these Dansk radio shows. A copy has never been found.
3-10-1972 Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco, CA AUD
N.I.B., Tomorrow's Dream, War Pigs, Sweet Leaf, Iron Man, Snowblind, Wicked World, Jams, Wicked World (reprise), Embryo, Children of the Grave, Paranoid, Fairies Wear Boots.
Contains early version of Snowblind and Tomorrow's Dreams with different lyrics. B- quality. Possable proshot film and audio recording exsist. Many do from the Ballroom.
3-16-1972 Tucson Community Center Convention Hall, Tucson, CA
N.I.B., Tomorrow's Dream, War Pigs, Sweet Leaf, Iron Man, Snowblind, Wicked World, Jams, Wicked World (reprise), Embryo, Children of the Grave, Paranoid, Fairies Wear Boots.
This sounds 40% better the San Francisco show. Tomorrow's Dreams and Snowblind are early draft versions. Totally different lyrics but the music is pretty much the same as what would be on Volume 4.
3-17-1972 Swing Auditorium, San Bernardino, CA AUD
N.I.B., Tomorrow's Dream, War Pigs, Sweet Leaf, Iron Man, Snowblind, Wicked World, Jams, Wicked World (reprise), Embryo, Children of the Grave, Paranoid, Fairies Wear Boots.
Heres a very clear near pro sounding recording. According to Yes fans (who played at this show) this comes from a cd copy of the orginial reel to reel tapes. And also somewhat remastered. Tomorrow's Dreams and Snowblind are early draft versions. Totally different lyrics but the music is pretty much the same as what would be on Volume 4. Geezer's bass goes in and out of tune after Sweet Leaf.
May 1972 - April 1973 Volume 4 Tour
9-1972 U.S. Radio Promo for Volume 4.
9-15-1972 Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA
Tomorrow's Dream, Sweet Leaf, War Pigs, Snowblind, Iron Man, Under The Sun, Wheels Of Confusion (missing last 15 seconds), Children Of The Grave.
Heres an ok sounding audience tape. Which is note worthy due to Under The Sun and Wheels Of Confusion. The is also a 1972 Dayton, Ohio recording with this setlist but it's very muffled and poor sounding. Thr album version on Under The Sun has very complex guritar parts snd Iommi does them justice in this live exsamble. As does Ozzy on the vocal front.
1-7-1973 Ngaruawahia Music Festival, Waikato River, Ngaruawahia
Tomorrow's Dream, Sweet Leaf, War Pigs, Snowblind, Iron Man, Changes, Cornucopia, Wicked World With Jams, Embryo, Children of the Grave, Paranoid.
Most widely came in to the public on a Japanese bootleg GOING THROUGH CHANGES. Released on 10-3-2003 on Lost And Found Records. This a very clear audience recording which contains the best live version on Changes. Which theres only a hand full of live exsamples to begin with. It is possable that this festival was pro recorded and filmed.
1-16-1973 Hordern Pavilion, Sydney Showground, Sydney, Australia
Tomorrow’s Dream, Sweet Leaf, War Pigs, Snowblind, Changes, Iron Man, Cornucopia, Wicked World With Jams, Embryo, Children Of The Grave, Paranoid.
Just having Changes in the set make this worth having. On top of that the interaction between oz and the audience is worth while to listen too. I got this in 2004 when it first came out into the public. But this isn't as good as Ngaruawahia 1973. Note : Make sure you find the speed corrected version.
3-3-1973 L'Olympia, Paris, France
Tomorrow's Dream, Sweet Leaf, War Pigs, Snowblind, Killing Yourself To Live, Cornucopia,
Embryo, Children Of The Grave, Paranoid.
First premired on a vinyl bootleg titled L'OLYMPIA. You can see the vinyl on ebay from time to time. I've been told that the vinyl has more bass to it. All copies I belive have come from this vinyl but has since been somewhat remastered. This is incomple with pretty good quality. Until Snowblind it starts to worsen. Tomorrow's Dreams seems to be one of the best version out there as for as band performance.
May 1973 - December 1974 Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Tour
2-1-1944 Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, PA AUD
Introduction with tune-up, Tomorrow's Dream, Sweet Leaf, Killing Yourself to Live, Snowblind, War Pigs, A National Acrobat, Cornucopia, Sabbra Cadabra With Jams, Guitar Solo, Drum Solo, Somethimes I'm Happy, Supernaut.
A pretty good one-channel mono recording. The sound is over flat but everyone is equal in the mix. Main features is the best live example of A National Acrobat. The only other source for that song is the muddy London 1973 audience tape.
2-11-1974 International Amphitheatre, Chicago, IL AUD
Tomorrow's Dream, Sweet Leaf, Killing Yourself to Live, Snowblind, Sabbra Cadabra (Sometimes I'm Happy Jam), Supernaut, Iron Man, Guitar Solo, Don't Start (Too Late), Black Sabbath, Embryo, Children of the Grave, War Pigs, Paranoid.
This has somwhat of a distent sound but a solid B grade recording. What maekes this show worth having is the stellar performance of the band. Ozzy's vocals are spot on through most of this show. Without a doubt one of his best of the mid 70s. One of the first shows I collected way back when.
4-6-1974 California Jam I - Ontario Raceway, Ontario, CA
Tomorrow's Dream, Sweet Leaf, Killing Yourself To Live, War Pigs, Snowblind, Sabbra Cadabra With Jams, Guitar Solo, Drum Solo, Somethimes I'm Happy, Supernaut, Paranoid, Embryo, Children Of The Grave.
Note : I'm compiling more info on this and will have a full page on the Caljam itself.
11-12-1974 Festival Hall, Melbourne, Australia
FM radio interview with Ozzy and Geezer. Also the show was recorded by a audience member. But the show isn't note worthy.
January 1975 - January 1976 Sabotage Tour
The album was mixed in 4-channel Quid LP by Spock Wall but never was released. There was a fake release of this in demo format. But the studio tracks was just made to sound different. I bought a $29 copy of this just to see the bogusness of it.
7-16-1975 International Amphitheatre, Chicago, IL AUD
Killing Yourself To Live, Hole In The Sky, Snowblind, Symptom Of The Universe, War Pigs, Megalomania, Sabbra Cadabra (Wuth Jams), Supernaut, Iron Man.
Incomplete but a solid A grade recording. Story I always heard was the taper was stopped by security and took his tape from the recorder. But he has already hid the first tape.
8-2-1975 Baltimore Civic Center, Baltimore, MY AUD
Hole in the Sky, Snowblind, Symptom of the Universe, War Pigs, Megalomania, Sometimes I'm Happy Jam, Supernaut, Iron Man, Guitar Solo, Orchid, Rock and Roll Doctor (early jam version), Guitar Solo p2, Don't Start (Too Late), Black Sabbath, Spiral Architect, Embryo, Children of the Grave, Paranoid.
A few quick, simple facts. Near pro sounding! One of the best audience recordings of the 'Happy' jam. Also has a early version of RNR Doc. To my ears one of Iommi's best solos. Worth getting!
8-5-1975 Ashbury Park Convention Center, Ashbury Park, NJ SBD/FM
Killing Yourself To Live, Hole In The Sky, Snowblind, Symptom Of The Universe, War Pigs, Megalomania, Sabbra Cadabra (Sometimes I'm Happy Jam), Supernaut, Iron Man, Rock And Roll Doctor (Early Jam Version), Guitar Solo, Don't Start (Too Late), Black Sabbath, Spiral Architect, Embryo, Children Of The Grave, Paranoid.
Well here it is. The debate is this : Maybe this is the best known recorded live performance of Black Sabbath. Black Sabbath made a couple attempts at putting out a live album. This was recorded as one of those attempts. However it never came to be. Althou it did make it onto a King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast. They had the multi-tracks master reels in their vaults. 2001 KBFH was debating on releasing this but they didn't. At the time they were taking in request from fans as to what shows should be released. The people at KBFH didn't have the correct date or the correct setlist for many of these shows. Promo copies were gave t0 fans who helped them out. So we get this concert as well as concerts from Blackfoot, ZZ Top, Johnny Van Zant, and others. 2005 the KB Record Group did have a minor release of this.
11-21-1975 Gaumont, State Theater, Kilburn AUD
Killing Yourself To Live, Hole In The Sky, Snowblind, Symptom Of The Universe, War Pigs, Sabbra Cadabra, Sometimes I'm Happy Jam, Supernaut, Iron Man (incomplete), Guitar Solo, Orchid, Rock and Roll Doctor (Early Jam Version), Spiral Architect, Embryo, Children Of The Grave, Paranoid.
A- grade audience recording. Perhaps the best vocal performance of Spiral Architect by Ozzy. Tony Iommi is near soundboard quality clear.
Febuary 1976 - April 1977 Technical Ecstasy Tour
1976 Innerview With Jim Jadd
FM broadcast interview with the band and even Jazz Woodroffe.
11-9-1976 Selland Arena, Fresno, CA AUD
Symptom Of The Universe, All Moving Parts (Stand Still), War Pigs, Gypsy, Black Sabbath
Dirty Women, Rock N Roll Doctor, Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Children Of The Grave, Paranoid.
In my estimation this is best audience recording from TE tour. Very clear audience recording of
almost complete show. Snowblind being the only song cut. Perhaps by the taper themselves.
12-8-1976 Civic Center, Pittsburgh, PA SBD/AUD
Symptom Of The Universe, Snowblind, All Moving Parts (Stand Still), War Pigs, Gypsy, Black Sabbath
Dirty Women, Rock 'n' Roll Doctor, Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Paranoid.
King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast only four songs of this on 1-16-1977 on the British Biscuit. So for
years those were all that was available. Once Wolfgang's Vaults bought the rights a more complete show has made it's way to public. There is also a great quality audience recording but it lacks Paranoid and Children Of The Grave.
Many cd artworks exsist which name this show as: 666 Demonic Visit, War Pigs In PA, The
Madmen Years, and Deadfall. One final note is that during Iommi's solo you can here the riff from I off of Dehumanizer!
4-21-1977 Olympen, Lund, Sweden AUD
Symptom Of The Universe, Snowblind, War Pigs, Black Sabbath, Dirty Women, Jam pI, Rock 'N' Roll Doctor, Guitar Solo, Jam p2, Electric Funeral, Jam p3, Bass Solo, N.I.B., Gypsy, Paranoid, Children of the Grave.
Without a doubt the best (near complete) TE tour show. The band is dead on with more jamming here than in most shows period. This is in such good quality that if you played this to an unknowning person, and told them its a pro recording, they'd believe you. But knowning it's audience sourced you'd pick up on the hand clapping and talking noise. Also Ozzy's sound is like hearing through a funnel in spots. Ironman is missing and Gypsy is out of order. It's possable this was done when this came out as the Killing Yourself To Die LP and never corrected.
May 1977 - Decmeber 1978 Never Say Die Tour
6-19-1978 Hammersmith Odeon, London, England AUD
As you may know we have this show on dvd named Never Say Die. The sad part is the offical release is missing
two songs and Iommi's solo was cut very short. Also taking into account all the jams and between song banter was cut deeply. Audience recording last 93 minutes while the dvd is a just 60 minutes.
9-2-1978 Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, PA FM/SBD
Soundboard : Snowblind, Black Sabbath, Dirty Women, Rock & Roll Doctor, Drum Solo, Guitar Solo, Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Fairies Wear Boots, Children Of The Grave, Paranoid.
FM Broadcast : Snowblind, Black Sabbath, Iron Man, Paranoid.
Professional recording done for the King Biscuit Flower Hour program. Only four songs were aired for FM broadcast and have been thrown around as bonus tracks on various bootlegs. 2006 Wolfgang's Vault bought the rights to much of the King Biscuit catalog. Among their library is a near complete version of the Pittsburgh
'78 show. 64 minutes.
9-15-1978 Richfield Coliseum, Cleveland, OH
Good quality show made wantable by hearing parts of Warning and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath in the jams.
9-22-1978 Selland Arena, Fresno, CA AUD
Symptom Of The Universe, Snowblind, War Pigs, Never Say Die, Black Sabbath,
Shock Waves, Dirty Women, Rock 'N' Roll Doctor, Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Children Of The Grave, Paranoid.
At first this tape was a such great quality bootleg it was confused as a soundboard recording. But later on the
taper (who also taped a 1976 Fresno show) revealed he recorded it. From his master tape comes a more complete and even better sounding version of this show. 2 cd version infact.

Origin unknown but this could have been broadcast over the radio at one point. I've talked to a couple fans who remember hearing this. All bets are on thou that this is a copy of the master soundboard tapes. Most noted by the linear notes from the first generation cds. Shock Waves isn’t available on any other soundboard recordings. So that makes this worth having just in by it's self. It also sounds like Sabbath is really enjoying playing a new song for a change. Near top of the line quality. Only minor flaw is the bass could have been turned up a tidbit louder. That and this is only have the show. But no real complaints on this one!

12-3-1978
San Diego Sports Arena, San, Diego, CA SDB
Backstage Interview with Bill Ward
12-7-1978
Taylor County Coliseum, Abilene, TX SBD
Symptom Of The Universe (Incomplete), Snowblind,War Pigs, Never Say Die, Black Sabbath, Shock Waves, Dirty Women, Rock 'N' Roll Doctor (Incomplete).
