It has been a while since Black Sabbath fans have been blessed with a never before heard concert recording. Tape traders, such as I, know the joy of building up a collection of live recordings. Specially if we find a never before circulated recording. To let the sounds of a long-a-go gig hit our ears. Technology gave us the gift to find new additions to our collections quite a bit easier. But it also made it harder for recordings to stay uncirculated. However, June of 2022 Facebook gave us the news that we are reaching that mountain top again.
Here are the details straight from the horse's mouth! |

On This Day June 29,1995 The First Full Length Forbidden Show Took Place. The Venue was The intimate Toad's Place In New Haven, Connecticut USA(About 500 people were in attendance at this Club which previously had such Acts as Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and a Year Earlier Sabbath made a stop there on The " Cross Purposes" Tour. The Band Had played Two abbreviated Sets Prior to The Toad's Place show ( 6/4 Esjerg Rock Festival and 6/16 Karlshamn) And so Began The Forbidden World Tour That would finally end Up in Indonesia AND with a Different Drummer! The Ticket Price was $25.00 USD. This Dedicated Sabbath Fan ( yours Truly ) Brought My Sony TCM 150 Recorder with Built in Stereo Condenser Mics. Fortunately I was Positioned right in front of the Soundboard and The Audience Noise is Minimal During the Songs. A Minor Amount Of EQ and Track editing went into the Final Production Considering The Equipment Etc it is a very Enjoyable Listen and The Band was truly on . Finally I am Happy to Report That In a Short Period of time This Unreleased performance from my own Archives will be available for any Sabbath Tony Martin Fan to Enjoy. I have Decided after 27 Years of "Cloak and Dagger" to Let it out as it should be. Stay Tuned ! Special Thanks to Thiago Reis For His Support of my project and Help

A few notes and thoughts on this recording;
As we all know personal audio recordings can not match the depth and quality of a professionally recorded concert. But as far as audience recording go I would give this a solid A- quality grade. As I first heard this tape it hit me that you can actually hear the bass guitar. In fact, all the instruments are heard clearly and pretty evenly in volume with each other.
The band had more energy and spark than the majority of other Forbidden tour recordings. The band didn't slug along an almost 'paint by the numbers' performances of the songs. There is a sense of fun and enjoyment that comes through the audio. Tony Martin has fun and jokes around some with the audience. You can tell he is really connecting with the crowd. The audience is heard clearly during and between songs. At just the right volume to not interfere with the music but adds to it.
Neon Knights is perhaps the best song from this tape. Tony Martin attempts to use his higher registry and gives it a good go at the higher parts of the songs. Unfortunately doing this takes a bit of a toll on his voice. It takes him a couple other songs before his voice becomes clear again. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath he also attempts to use his higher registry. Singing the song more like Ozzy. You can tell he was trying it out. The Wizard is another song of note. As it is by far the best performance of the song during this tour.
