First known show we have of Dio in Sabbath. Includes a very good jam following Ironman. For me the best reason for collecting this is a very good rendition of Lonely Is The Word. This recording itself is in ok quality. Would be better if it wasn't so distent sounding. . You can really hear Geoff good in the mix. Maybe a little too much in a fews spots.

An audience recording also exsist with same setlist. But the version to get is from the King Biscuit Flower Hour recordings. An incomplete FM broadcast source was at one point all we had. From an radio station's LP master. Until 2007 when Wolfgang's Vaults came to be. The source we have now is from a promo copy gave out when WV gave them out to those that helped organise their collection. Sabbath does have this show in their hands also has they used HAH on the Europe version of the Die Young single.
8-12-1980 Providence Civic Center, Providence, RI AUD
War Pigs, Neon Knights, N.I.B., Heaven And Hell, Iron Man, Die Young, Paranoid.

War Pigs, Neon Knights, N.I.B., Children Of The Sea, Sweet Leaf, Drum Solo, Lay Evil, Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell, Iron Man, Band Jam, Die Young, Paranoid, Children Of The Grave.
Two shows on the same day. Both are worth getting. Lady Evil debuts for the Japan audience. From an magazine interview with Dio he said that as they walked around Japan they kept hearing "play Lady Evil". So they did. The news followed the band around as I have severial articles from these concerts. Some very nice pictures also. I've read the comments off one of these songs on youtube some time ago and I remember comments to the like that people are looking for the radio broadcast that was advertised.
11-18-1980 Nakano Sun Plaza Hall, Tokyo, Japan AUD/SBD/FM
SBD : War Pigs, Neon Knights, N.I.B., Children Of The Sea, Sweet Leaf, Lady Evil, Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell, Iron Man.
FM : Neon Knights, N.I.B., Children Of The Sea, Sweet Leaf, Lady Evil, Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell, Iron Man.
AUD : Same as SBD.
There are three very different sources for this show. As stated before the news and media followed the band all around these dates. So without a doubt in my mind there is footage and pro audio from all these shows. The complete soundboard source that we have comes from Cozy's collection. I was gave to him along with other live tapes for him to hear and practise with. When he joined Sabbath for Headless Cross. This is in near perfect condition with just a few moments missing at the end. Iommi is more in the mix with Geezer and bill 2nd. Dio wasn't having a great night. It seems his voice was hoarce. With these shows back to back and interviews all day. Can't hear Geoff much at all. If this show was just re-mixed and remastered better it would A+ but I'm giving it a A-. On a cd-r boot by Sound Crime Studios in Birkenau, Poland it says it's the 1998 remastered edition. It sounds a little better but not a stellar difference. On the FM source we have the mix is different. We hear Geoff and Dio better in the mix. Main downfall is more audience noise in the mix. The audience source is a fair recording. Not note worthy.

FM version is at 95min while the soundboard I over 105min. look for the Langley Masters CD-R titled Class Of 1992 for the copy of the DAT master. I'd stay away from the bootleg As Darkness Hits (1993 Rocks / Rock Dreams #92039-Italy/Luxembourg) it isn't speed corrected and static filled.
